Proceeds from Love.Spring Lunar New Year Celebration to Benefit Prince of Peace Children’s Home

YOU ARE INVITED

San Francisco, CA – January 31, 2008 – During the Lunar New Year festival, children receive red packets of money from their parents for good luck. But for the orphans in the Prince of Peace Children’s Home in Tianjin, China, their luck will come in the form of donations. Red packets collected at the Love.Spring Celebration Brunch, co-presented by the Singapore America Business Association (SABA), SingaporeConnect and NUSEA (The National University of Singapore Entrepreneurs Association) will help provide medical care for the children. Love.Spring will be held Sunday, February 10, 2008 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Crowne Plaza Cabana Palo Alto in Palo Alto, CA.

Many of the 100 orphans at The Prince of Peace Children’s Home and Children’s Rehabilitation Center suffer from congenital diseases such as glaucoma, cerebral palsy, and Down Syndrome. Donations made in the form of “Red Packets of Love” will help the organization continue to provide medical services and to train more leaders and caregivers in China, so that more orphans can have a home and a fresh start at life.

“It is very rewarding to be able to host this event and support such a wonderful and important cause, and we are extremely grateful to the sponsors and people who have worked so hard to ensure that it will be a success,” said Dr. Peng-Huat Ang, president of SABA.

“The Lunar New Year festival celebrates the arrival of spring, which signifies growth and new beginnings,” said Kenneth Yeung, Founder of Prince of Peace Foundation and Prince of Peace Children's Home. “By collecting Red Packets of Love, we are hoping to spread the joy of spring to underprivileged children who would not get to experience it otherwise.”

The event will ring in the Year of the Rat with a buffet brunch and traditional Chinese entertainment. Attendees will enjoy a lion dance, a demonstration by Shao Lin Gong Fu masters, and a Chinese orchestra performance. Children can try their hand at origami and Chinese calligraphy, or bounce around in the Dragon Jumping House. For those who feel they have the luck of the Rat with them, a raffle drawing will be held at the end of the event.

Event Sponsors include:

  • Prince of Peace Enterprises, an importer, distributor and marketer of gourmet products, supplements and topical analgesics

  • EastWest Bank, a full-service commercial bank serving consumers and businesses throughout California

  • Singapore International Foundation, a not-for-profit organization that seeks to nurture active global citizens and friends for Singapore.
